Capital Investment Grants…..help to support capital investment projects either by SMEs or by companies operating in assisted areas….. The scheme is aimed at manufacturers and added value business.

This is a BERR grant scheme and administered across England by the 9 Regional Development Agencies. Historically only around 20% of England was grant aided.

Now around 80% of England is covered by grant aid thanks to several RDA's opening up their entire regions to SME applicants. 

Selective Finance for Investment in England (SFIE) - is the main BERR capital investment grant scheme. In 2007 the RDA’s across England offered around £58m in grant aid and in 2006 , £66m was offered.

Capital Investment Grants have been crucial in supporting UK business for some time now and the SFIE scheme will be here until 2013. From 2008 to 2013 a projected £500m in grant aid will be offered under the scheme to assist English companies. The average SFIE grant offered across England is around £85,000. Grant intervention rates vary on average from 7.5%-25% of eligible project costs.
